Excursion

On Wednesday, before the banquet, we will take a short boat trip in the archipelago of Helsinki. The boat will leave from the Market Square and return to the same spot. The Market Square is two blocks away from the conference venue, the university main building.

There are two boats, MS Emma, the bigger one, was built in 1948, is an archipelago ship especially built for entertainment cruising. The smaller boat, MS Diana, was built in 1985 and has a large sundeck.

There will be refreshments on board and Eero Grundström will perform on MS Diana during the cruise. His instruments are mouth-harp and a portable harmonium. On MS Emma we have Aulanko Jazz Trio (Markus Holkko, sax, Jussi Lampela, acoustic guitar, Iiro Kautto, double bass) playing.

Please bring your sweater. Even if we are lucky with the weather, the sea is still very cold.

MS Emma will take about 180 and MS Diana about 70 people. You may choose the boat you like (according to your preference in music), but if one boat fills up, we will guide you to the other boat.

Banquet

The banquet is held in the premises of the Palace Gourmet restaurant at Eteläranta 10, the first restaurant to earn a Michelin star in Finland in 1987. Palace Gourmet is close to the Market Square, about three blocks away from the conference venue.
